Love for TULANA TAGGS
A rich five-star liner cabin
Tulana is much more than a floating house on the Thames, which is already extraordinary. It's a super comfy place overlooking a quiet lagoon on Taggs Island (only 30 minutes to central London by train). Every detail has been designed to make you feel at home. The decor is magnificent; the vast bed, in particular, makes the bedroom like a rich five-star liner cabin with its en suite bathroom. You can lose yourself in dreams in the soft cushions, imagining for a moment traveling on the RMS Queen Mary in its heyday.

You will not regret it!! We had the most amazing stay at Tulana, for our 10 year anniversary. We live in SE London so this was perfect, a holiday destination in London. It's such peaceful and relaxing oasis that you will feel in love.
The house itself is fabulous. a combination of exotic opulence and art deco. No expense was spared and everything was just divine. The super king bed is soo comfy and gave us an amazing nice sleep.

hands down the best
A stay with the comfort of a well considered home and the amenities of a hotel situated in the most amazing pocket of the Thames.
It's right by the water so you are looking at beautiful scenery the whole day. Everything in the home is high quality, the bed is top notch and the bath is hotel quality. If you like cooking the kitchen has everything you need to cook a five star meal, and if you prefer deliveries the island is accessible by cars and delivery services. Easy!

TAGGS, the ISLAND idyll
Taggs Island is a private island, accessed via a bridge and is home to residents from all walks of life. The island community of 62 floating homes is a little bit of paradise, with the floating homes dotted around the outside of the island as well as the inner lagoon. Just across the bridge is Bushy Park, famed for its mix of waterways, gardens, and roaming herds of red and fallow deer. With over 1000 acres, Bushy Park is the second-largest of London's eight Royal Parks and is jam-packed with English history. Bushy Park also offers a lovely backdrop for a morning stroll and the riverside paths can take you all the way to the shops to Kingston.
Most islanders tend to walk to the shops, the local garage or even the pub. There are easy bus connections to and from Kingston, Richmond and Hampton. The Hampton Court rail station is about 15 minutes’ walk away and is also serviced by a bus stopping just next to the bridge that leads onto Taggs Island. This train route goes straight into Waterloo station via Clapham Junction and Vauxhall so one can be in central London within 30 minutes.
Stay in the tranquil surrounds of a floating home and drink in the slice of nature, while also taking in the Big Ben, the Tower of London and Piccadilly Circus with theatreland Soho and Covent Garden around the bend.
TAGGS' History
charlie Chaplin, FrED karno & THE AStoria
Video presentation by Dave Raven, longstanding resident of Taggs Island
The Tagg family, who made their fortune as boat-builders, established a hotel on the island in 1870. By the late 19th century it was the leisure venue of choice for those in society. In 1912 it changed hands to Fred Karno, who spent his summers on Tagg's Island, living on his houseboat, The Astoria (now owned by Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour). Karno made a fortune as a music hall impresario, with a troupe of talented comedians, including the young Charlie Chaplin. When he opened his Karsino hotel in May 1913, he laid on ferries to get the guests to the hotel & offered 100 small boats as amusement. The music hall, hotel & grounds were all the rage for over a decade. Following WW1 & 3 summers of bad weather, Karno was finally forced into bankruptcy by 1925. The Karsino hotel & Tagg's Island then changed hands several times, with many subsequent owners going bankrupt too. In 1972 the hotel was finally demolished & a series of fires destroyed the other buildings on the site. It's current reincarnation was developed by the Braban family to include the floating homes on the inner lagoon & the vehicle bridge.

HEAVEN ON EARTH!
When I showed the pictures to my friends, nobody beleived it is just outside of west London. So relaxed, and you feel like you travelled far and arrived to a very beautiful and very, very peaceful PARADISE. We tried the log fire heated hot tub, fed the ducks, and sometimes just looked out and enjoyed the fantastic view.
We have been in nice 5 star hotels, but I never had a more comfortable bed than we had at Tulana. You must go, and try it, I promise you won't be disappointed.

cENTRAL LONDON EVERY 30 Min
If you are someone who lives in London then it would be a perfect close get-away from the big city and if, like us you live elsewhere and are wanting to visit London each day it really was a about the same price as a basic hotel room in the centre, a very lightly longer train home and you're staying in the lap of luxury surrounded by nature, very welcome after a long day in the Capital.

UNIQUELY AWESOME!
The location itself is really peaceful; the island is full of nature and it's lovely to sit by the water and feed the birds (bird feed provided!). The hammock and seating area upstairs are perfect for sitting long into the evening - as well as in the hot tub, of course. There are also restaurants and bars a short walk away, but we would recommend buying some food in and enjoying the tranquil surroundings of the accommodation and the island.
Every small detail has been thought of here - 100% would recommend.
